Could this be a new innovative lure to try out for musky fishing despite being made for bass fishing, SPRO KGB Chad Shid K-Rig. Remind you the Umbrella rig or A-rig has been banned and redistricted in quite few states! Is this a good way to mimic the alabama rig without separating the lures and having so many hooks, but still having the same efficacy as the Alabama rig, but even better because it allows you to do the figure 8 over and over again without so much clumsiness you would have as an Alabama rig, less resistance in the water too, remember speed is key with musky even sometimes when doing the figure 8. Absolutely ingenious, this invention is called the K-Rig and was made by SPRO, first featured in the ICAST Awards in 2025.
It's funny, I always say some of the bass techniques and lures can be used on musky like the Strike King 8.0, now some of the same musky techniques like the figure 8 can be used on bass watching this video here down below, as this bass angler said the largemouth are trying to bust up the K-rig thinking it's an actual bait ball.
Most effective so far uh for me is actually just the eight trap. Um, what's happening is I'm getting those fish to they see the bait and they follow it to the boat. And a lot of people give up when that fish shoots down. Yeah. Don't give up with this bait because what they do is they'll circle around. They're want they're wait they're following it to the boat waiting for the bait ball to bust up and then they're going to go after one. Yeah. Well, if you keep it in the water and keep swirling, they realize that bait ball is not going to bust up. They try to force it to bust up. So, they come back and that's why these fish I've been able to get fish to commit that have been at the boat for two minutes. Just keep it in the water. Keep moving it. Doing the eight trap figure eight, you know, "musky style" stuff!
It's a really innovative fishing lure, I think it may be just as innovative like the Chatterbait and many other fishing companies are going to try and replicate it, especially for the musky market, maybe even the pike market overseas. This bait may not be built strong enough to withstand the strike of a big muskellunge or northern pike, it may need some stronger hooks, thicker through wire construction. But SPRO being known for quality, I think it's still constructed very well and should last for quite a few months or even a year plus for musky fishing, we will see... Because I suspect a lot of musky anglers are going to want to try it!
Still not sold, here's a video clip of the K-Rig being reeled in on a short video! The realism is absolutely incredible the way it maneuvers like real school of bait fish!
