There are different types and patterns of southern pike, also known as Esox flaviae or Esox cisalpinus. Not all the southern pike will look the same like Ettore Marella's southern pike from Italy! Not to mention small Esox are fun to catch to, quite erratic when they're that young, sometimes doing summer salts and all types of different acrobatic movements when jumping. Why I say fishing from shoreline can be a lot of fun versus a boat going for the big ones in deeper water, Esox are more likely to jump in the shallows... Don't always have to catch the big ones!
